Hard drive woes

My hard drive at work on my main development machine appears to be dying. As a result my windows would not boot this morning. Apparently it could not find vgaoem.fon. Then I had to spend the whole day trying to fix it. I will also most likely spend most of tomorrow diagnosing it. It is an incredible pain.

It reminds me of my previous job where I lost one hard drive a year for three years in a row. All of these are dell systems, so I am beginning to suspect they use the lowest bidder, and the quality is showing.

Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!

I've never suffered a disk crash, but just the thought of it gives me sympathetic pain.

Guess I'd better back up my computer.

I’m at Dell Headquarters in Round Rock and I just came across this post and wanted to see if there was anything I could do. If the problem is still unresolved feel free to contact me.

Re: Hard Drive
Neil,
Thanks for the post and offer of support. I am beginning to think it was a software issues, because after wiping and re-installing the problem seems to have gone away.

Of course I would feel better knowing exactly what was causing it.

No problem. If you want to make sure that the HDD isn't going out you can always run a diagnostic on it to make sure.
