I see this image every day as I drive to work, and it irritates me to no end.
But first a disclaimer. I rarely follow politics, especially in the primaries. I think the party leaders will pick their favorite without much consideration for what Americans actually think as long as the candidate in question doesn't do something entirely boneheaded.
So back to why love irritates me so much. Well it is not really love that irritates me, it is the concept pushed by Hollywood, and now apparently politicians, that love can cure all our ills. If we just had more love every thing would be better. Well maybe we would feel more loved, and that is not a bad thing, but in my experience to solve real problems you need hard work.
As in love and happy as my wife and I are, we still use good old fashioned hard work to solve our problems. I will not deny that being in love makes it easier, as it gives us an implicit base of trust, but that alone is not enough.
So the next time some one tells you love is all you need, you tell them John Lennon is dead.
